Barret's Buddies

Barret's Buddies is Blues defenseman Barret Jackman's program to help neglected and abused animals from Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

Stray Rescue's mission is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them back to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes.

Featured Barret's Buddies

Throughout the year, several dogs from Stray Rescue are selected to be our featured Barret's Buddies. They are in need of a loving family and would love nothing more than to meet you! If you are interested in adopting one of our special friends, please visit Stray Rescue.

Burke is an absolutely wonderful dog. The only thing definite about his breed is that it is mixed. He sniffs like a hound, runs like a husky, learns quickly like a shepherd, jumps up on and over EVERYTHING like a border collie, is loyal like a lab, and loves his “person” like any dog breed. After a play session, Burke just lays down next to his person and relaxes. He is very affectionate when he gets to know you a little. Burke currently shares an apartment with another dog at the Pine Street location. The two dogs get along great. Hiking, running, and riding in the car are some favorite activities for Burke. He loves to chase squirrels in the park, play fetch with his toys, run fast, and practice his commands. Burke follows hand signals very well. He knows sit, down, stay, come, and turn around.

Marina was adopted as a puppy but recently returned to Stray Rescue through no fault of her own. Now she is getting reacquainted with shelter life and hoping to find a new, more loyal family quickly.
Marina can be shy at first meeting, yet she quickly warms up to people. Marina is a sweet girl who likes to play. She also enjoys her walks. A big tail wagger, Marina will come to her apartment door to greet anyone who stops to talk to her. Marina needs some special help from her humans. She is a bit overweight, which she clearly is not showing in her picture. A diet and regular exercise will fix this problem quickly.
Combination is a handsome guy. His gorgeous brown and white coat, his adorable expression, and his ability to find a very comfy place to rest make him an irresistible combination of many things. Combination came into the shelter with heavy chains padlocked around his neck. The staff had to use bolt cutters to free him, but just look at him now. He's warm, well fed and content. Clearly Combination is thrilled to be rescued. This guy needs a good home where he can enjoy unfettered freedom and love. Throw in a couple of fluffy towels or a nice fuzzy bed, and you'll have yourself a great dog companion.

About Stray Rescue
Stray Rescue's sole purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes.

Virtually all of the pets Stray Rescue saves have been abused and neglected. They've been dumped on highways, or remote country roads. Abandoned in public parks, empty houses and dark alleys. They've even saved dogs left chained behind buildings after their owners had moved away.

Rescued animals often make the best pets. Pets from Stray Rescue seem to understand that they have a second lease on life. In return for a little affection and attention, these remarkable animals reward their new owners with a love and loyalty unmatched anywhere.
